El Jalisco in Johnstown

Not sure what is going on but last two months they have gone downhill. There is always something wrong with their Pepsi. It is either too much syrup or flat. Take your pick. Last four times we went the salsa was real salty. Almost inedible. Server seemed embarrassed and indicated she has told management about ongoing problem with Pepsi dispenser. And then she states salsa is made every day but could be made by a different person each time. To top it off, plate was scalding hot but my food was ice cold? How does that happen. I thought food was made fresh. I could not touch my plate so how was food half frozen? Very disappointing. Btw the other Mexican restaurant in town and this restaurant are owned by same people so will someone please get el Jalisco back on track. Service was varied. Sometimes they are attentive and other times they never come back to see if you need refills. Not sure what happened but they need to get it together.

The restaurant was clean and a nice environment, but our food was hit or miss. The flautas were yummy, but the quesadilla was greasy and not appetizing.

Authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. Large portions and friendly staff all in a beautiful, vibrant setting.

I am not a big fan of hot and spicy Mexican food but their chips and salsa that they serve with every meal to every Patron are the best in the area. Everything is made from scratch. The decor is perfectly themed with Mexican Flair and the staff and owners are very friendly. This place is popular for family gatherings college students and a good date night place. Atmosphere is happy

Good food, however the chimichanga didn't seem to be deep fried, was more along the lines of the tortilla being slightly dipped in oil as you would a corn tortilla before rolling an enchilada. The service needs an upgrade. I ordered a light meal so I can try out the ice cream they had advertised on the table. Well I'm not sure why but the female server I had wasn't good at her job. That in turned prevented the restaurant from making more off me because instead of asking me if I wanted anything else she simply placed the ticket down and thanked me for coming. How many others does she do that too? I'm sure it adds up at some point, I know in my case it also made me only tip her half of what I was going to. I also let the nice hostess/cashier know why I didn't order the ice cream, but she seemed to young to know the inpact it may have had on the business bottom line at the end of the day. When I do find my way back to the area I may give them another shot.

Always fast service and plenty of good food. Our server was willing to speak Spanish with us, which made it more fun (if you know Spanish, like I do).

Fantastic and reasonably priced throughout the menu. Food was too good and disappeared before I had the chance to take any pictures. Nice mix of classic and regional dishes. Can’t go wrong w anything they offer.

This place as awesome chips and salsa. The enchiladas and beans were so yummy and my bf said his food was amazing too. Great place to eat. I love the seating, the pictures on the benches are beautiful. Extremely friendly staff. I highly recommend eating there

We recently moved to the area and have now tried both Mexican restaurants in town, and feel like this one is far superior. We’ve eaten here several times now and have tried to order different things each time, and have not been disappointed yet. Definitely try them out if you haven’t!

I love El Jalisco! The food is amazing and the staff is super friendly. I have never ordered something that I didn't like and they have a huge variety to choose from! Definitely recommend!

They have the best refried beans I have ever eaten! Delicious cuisine in a very colorful pleasant atmosphere. It's like walking into a Latin restaurant in another country. Lol. Servers were pleasant and friendly, price was very reasonable. We will be back. I'll try to take a pic of the main dish before I eat it all next time. 😂😂

There margaritas are amazing.

I could eat here every day. The restaurant is colorful and the staff is very attentive. But the food -- the food is incomparable. Having moved to Pittsburgh, I struggle to find a replacement that's as good as El Jalisco. I recommend the Grillo Special or basically anything else on the menu. You can't beat the prices for the quality and quantity you get. If you go, ask for the cheese sauce for your bottomless chips. It's life changing.
